Svatava Antošová: She who plants fire…
 – Czechia

Svatava Antošová is a poet, writer, dramaturg, playwright, lyricist, journalist and essayist born in Teplice in 1957. She graduated from the Library Studies secondary school in Prague. Afterwards, she worked as a librarian, manual worker, grinder and editor at the Czech International Radio, the Hearst-Stratosféra publishing house and literary journal Tvar. As an author, she rose from the underground through an intoxication for the avant-garde, from pataphysics to surrealism, arriving at a distinctive and personal style of imaginative writing, where both the lands of northern Bohemia and her own personal experience resonate through the pages. In 2023, she released Planting Fire, an anthology of her life’s poetry.
