Martin Fahrner: Children & Good Luck
 – Czechia

Martin Fahrner is a writer, translator and author of theatre plays and song lyrics. He was born in Jablonec nad Nisou in 1964 and graduated from the J. E. Purkyně University, Faculty of Education, in Ústí nad Labem and studied dramaturgy at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. He worked as a dramaturg in theatres in Brno, Jihlava and Pardubice. Fahrner published five books of prose: starting with Fairy Tales for Big Children (1993) and most recently Good Luck (2023). About his own writing, he said: “I’ve always had quite a lot of work. Often I worked with several theatres at once. My wife and I were raising three children. The frequency of how much I publish relates to how much time I have. Currently I have more time, so hopefully I will write more.”
