Originating from the Ciyakang tribe of the Truku people in Hualien, Apyang Imiq is a distinguished Indigenous Taiwanese writer. He has received significant recognition, including the Best New Author at the 2021 Taiwan Literature Awards for his book Growing Up in a Tree Hollow and has won the Indigenous literary awards multiple times. After completing his degree at the Graduate Institute of Building and Planning at National Taiwan University, he returned to his tribal community to engage deeply in cultural preservation and community development. A passionate advocate for the Truku heritage and a queer person, Apyang also explores the nuances and clashes between traditional values and modern values in his writings.
